Vincent Van Gogh Is The Subject Of Two-Year Artistic Movement: CDs, Audio Book, Live Tour, 3D Documentary, and Broadway Musical Planned.
Financier turned artist Diederick Van Eck is on a mission to bring Vincent Van Gogh's inspiring story to the masses with a two-year plan of multi-media creations aimed to educate through entertainment.
The first project is 'Van Gogh by Van Eck,' a deluxe package of music CD and 44-page art book featuring glorious reproductions of Van Gogh's paintings from Amsterdam's Van Gogh Museum, out now on Private Sound Records and available on iTunes and at physical music retailers as well as at museums throughout the U.S. Through music in a variety of genres, Van Eck sings from Van Gogh's point of view, revealing what was truly going on in his life at the time of each of the corresponding 12 paintings.
Over the next two years, Van Eck will unfold the following artistic projects:
1- 'Van Gogh's Struggle Success': 2 CD audio book featuring fine theatrical scenes and narratives plus a print book on Van Gogh's success, that came after his death. The book component will be the first to explore the marketing and business of Van Gogh. This deluxe package will be available in Sept 2010.
2- 'Van Gogh By Van Eck: The Lounge Remixes': Remixes of the 'Van Gogh By Van Eck' original album featuring famed DJs like Christophe Goze, Alpha X, Nahoko Kakiage, DJ Slow and Amanaska among others. Download "Shoes" remixed by DJ Slow here.
3- Already a sought after performer in Holland, Van Eck is mapping out dates for a live tour in late 2010 which will feature him performing songs from 'Van Gogh by Van Eck' plus a multi-media sermon on Van Gogh.
4- Van Eck is currently in talks with technical engineers to transpose Van Gogh paintings into 3D for a documentary as a steppingstone to the musical.
5- All of these components will lead up to a Broadway bound musical in 2011 where a talented NYC musician's life parallel's Van Gogh's. Van Eck has already co-produced a Dutch musical of the famed Paul Verhoeven film 'Soldier of Orange.'
Van Eck explains his mission, "I believe in education through entertainment. I wanted to create fun ways for people of all ages to learn about someone who dared to make a difference and changed our world forever. I'd love for people to walk away from these projects with some guidance and reference on how belief, sacrifice, focus and perseverance lead to achieving goals.
Van Gogh is a great example of this because a viewer is immediately struck with the immediacy of passion and angst transmitted by his startling interplay of color and texture. Ever since I was a child living not far from the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam to my years as a broker/banker, I looked to Van Gogh as a role model. Passing a long his story is very important and gratifying to me.
Through out my projects I use synesthesia in which all my senses - what I see, hear, smell and feel - is translated into music. With these projects and most importantly the musical, I'll also create an environment to stimulate all of the senses of the audience."
