Van Gogh Inspires Paintings, Film, Lego - And Music

PRESS RELEASE - Vincent Van Gogh's art has inspired creative people to do incredible things. His paintings influenced countless Expressionist, Fauvist and early Abstract painters and legendary filmmakers from Vincente Minnelli (the Oscar-winning 'Lust for Life') to Akira Kurosawa (a section of 'Dreams' starring Martin Scorsese as Van Gogh).

Today, Van Gogh's passion and skill are still having an impact across mediums. On 'Van Gogh by Van Eck,' Diederick Van Eck interprets the artist in songs based on 12 of his most famous paintings. The album, out now on Private Sound Records, includes a deluxe, 44-page art book produced with the participation of the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam so others can also be inspired.

"Van Gogh was a rebel, an innovator, a visionary and a courageous leader," notes Van Eck. "If he had lived in our time, he would have been a rock star."
